A NEW CHAPTER IN PDF READING

Follow the idea.
Not the interface.

A quiet home for papers and the connections between them. Peek at a citation. Follow an equation. Find your way back.

MADE FOR THE WAY YOUR MIND WANDERS

Keep the thread.

Reading isn’t a straight line.
Your reader shouldn’t make it one.

A footnote. Not a detour.

Look up equations and citations in a quick look, then return to exactly where you were.

A SMALL EXPLORATION

The shape of a good idea

Understanding grows when we can move between a claim and its source. The relationship in gives us a place to begin.

02 / SETTLE IN

Make yourself at home.

23 considered themes, custom colors, and a little glass. Keep original colors when scientific figures need them.

THE QUIET MARGIN

Space to think.
Room to understand.

A familiar page, in a light that suits you.

03 / STAY IN FLOW

Your hands know the way.

Search, jump, preview, and return without reaching for the mouse. A searchable command menu fills in the gaps.

ALPHA 01 / VERSION 0.8.0

An early release, honestly labeled.
Choose your browser. We’ll show you the steps.

Choose a desktop browser below. You can always override our recommendation.

Not a store release. Firefox requires signing for permanent installation. Safari requires a Mac, Xcode, signing, and further testing; it cannot automatically replace the native PDF viewer. Mobile extensions aren’t supported in this alpha.

A LITTLE SETUP. A LOT LESS FRICTION.

Make room for Pipit.

Downloads don’t install extensions automatically. These are development packages, not verified store listings.

BEFORE YOU TAKE FLIGHT

A few good questions.

Does opening a PDF save it to Downloads?

Eligible top-level PDF links open inline in the Chromium and Firefox extensions. PDF bytes still have to be fetched, and your browser may cache them. Save an original copy only when you choose Download. Safari uses explicit opening rather than automatic interception.

What’s included in the alpha?

Keyboard navigation, equation and citation previews, reading history, two-page view, themes, a local notebook, and a citation graph within the current PDF. Text lookup is heuristic. Scans need OCR elsewhere; author–year citations and cross-paper graphs aren’t supported.

What happens to my existing Paperterm data?

Pipit is the new name for Paperterm. Existing storage keys and Firefox extension identity are retained. Reload the existing unpacked extension in the same folder/profile to retain its identity. A new extension ID, profile, or website origin has separate local data. Export important notes before changing installations.

Can I trust scientific figures in a recolored theme?

Recoloring intentionally changes images as well as text. Use the original-color toggle whenever a plot’s precise colors matter. The alpha still needs broader validation on very large files, unusual fonts, and complex documents.

Where can I report a problem?

For this initial alpha, send your maintainer the browser/version, operating system, reproduction steps, and a non-sensitive sample if possible. The development repository is private; there is no public issue tracker or store listing yet.
